WORKS STARTING AT INFIRMARY, WITH RD CLOSURE
Blackburn with Darwen Council has been informed of important works starting this Monday which needs to be carried out on Infirmary Road, Blackburn at the junction of Bolton Road A666.
The works are to carry out a sewer connection to the new retail units on the Royals Development site.
Due to the location of the manhole that they need to connect into, and it’s very close proximity to the traffic signal junction, the only safe way to carry out the works is to do it under a road closure.
Works will start from 7.30am on Monday 8th September and works are expected to take two weeks to complete. Buses 5A, 5C and 12 as well the school bus 977 will be diverted onto Longshaw Lane and temporary stops will be in place on Longshaw Lane.
In order to minimise disruption to motorists, Longshaw Lane will
be opened to two way traffic and the relevant diversion signs will be installed
on site to direct traffic around the closure. Temporary stops will be installed
on Longshaw Lane and will be approximately 100 yards from the junction of
Bolton Road.
The works are being carried out by Condale Construction on
behalf of David Wilson Homes/Pulse Partnerships.
Councillor
Maureen Bateson, Executive Member for Regeneration said: "The works are
necessary because of the adjacent new development but we do appreciate that it
is more disruption for local residents, motorists, school children and
pedestrians. We are working closely with the contractors to ensure that
disruption is kept to a minimum and we appreciate people's patience while the
work is carried out."
